I just received these and they are exactly as described:Two units, each with 100 "fairy lights" ((tiny LEDs)) on a wire, each with a solar panel. The panels are closed using small phillips-head screws, which is a good thing to me, because it means that the batteries can be probably replaced - since even rechargeable batteries DO eventually lose their ability to re-charge.These LEDs are small, surprisingly bright for their size, but they aren't going to "light up" a dark area of the yard - they're definitely a "mood light". The *positive* aspect of that is, they look festive and pretty *without* keeping your neighbors awake at night!Plus, two strings can always be used together if a bit more light is desired. I got them to use with some star-shaped lights, and I think they'd also work well with any sort of "dangling" sort of light, but again, without making your yard look like a landing strip for small planes! The units are a bit delicate, so I would personally handle them gently.I just received them day before yesterday, so I can't comment about their longevity. Most of these solar string lights need to have the power switched to "On" for them to charge, so I assume these are the same. It's a push-button, though, so you have to try them out in the dark to see whether they are on or not, though they SHOULD be "Off" when you receive them. The "Mode" button is also a push-button, not a dial; I have not yet tried the various "modes", but the default mode is that they go through all of the various effects in sequence. The "twinkling" one isn't too obnoxious simply because they are tiny, so it could be cute if mixed with steady-on lights or similar, which is what I was thinking of doing. If I can think of anything additional, I'll try to update this review, if that's still do-able ;)
