Chris Tomlin has become one of my favorite musical artists. He always manages to have a few songs on every album that stay with me (and with everyone, since they often become worship songs sung at churches across the nation). I enjoy his interpretations of hymns. However, this album stands far above anything else he has done to this point. Unlike his other albums, where there's always a few songs that, after a few plays, I skip most of the time to get to the "good ones", I just want to listen to the whole album over and over.At first, I was a bit leery of Awake My Soul...I'm not a big fan of spoken word/rap. However, Lecrae's contributions make this song pop.As to the rest, let's just say this: to pick a favorite song is very tough, as each one shines in its own way, and resonates with me when I'm in a certain frame of mind. The martial tones of God of Angel Armies and White Flag; the energy of Lay Me Down and God's Great Dance Floor; the majestic feel of Crown Him, Jesus Son of God, and Sovereign; the gentle contemplation of Thank you God... and Shepherd Boy; all turn the mind and heart to God and His glory, so that it's almost impossible not to sing along and worship. If you love Chris Tomlin, buy this album - it is his best to date, hands down. If you don't, buy this album - discover him and his depth of passion and knowledge of God.
