We use it for a home karaoke night and it works greatPerformed perfectlyMany of the other reviews are incorrect. It will react really well to music BUT it has to be places in front of the speaker. The microphone on the back of the unit is directional, so if the speaker is not aimed right at it, it will not hear it. You can try it out using your phone by placing the phone speaker right in front of the little mic in the back and you will see that it works awesome. I have it set up in front of my center channel speaker on my surround sound and pointed the unit at the center of my ceiling. It is awesome.I used two of these for djing a birthday party Friday April 23rd. These worked great in a fairly midsize to large room (VFW hall). The dance area had half the lights turned off while the other had all the lights on but still performed well. The main FX were a little washed out when no one was on the dance floor but popped when everyone was dancing. The children loved it! I wish the cord that came with the product was longer but could easily be fixed buying a longer cord. I would’ve love to set these on my speakers but they worked fine on my laptop table. The music function/setting worked great! Every time the bass hit the lights would change.For the money it’s a great value! I didn’t try to use the remote as the lights are basically ‘set it and forget it.’It’s defiantly worth a buy!The instructions are a small bi-fold pamphlet and you have to read between the lines to figure things out. If you want it to react to the music, you need to put it pretty close to a speaker.
