These are far better than lantern lights of another brand that we used for a big event recently. You can easily open the compartment by using a small flathead screwdriver at the end with the plastic tab. Each lantern takes 2 CR2032 batteries. They even show you in the description how it all goes together unlike other brands. Loved that!Still, I don’t think you want to turn these on more than 2-3 hours prior to your event or they will be too faded to light up your lanterns. Would definitely buy these again!
